our program
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert opened its doors in 1996 and has since been helping the children in our community. We serve children throughout the Coachella Valley, ages 6 through 18, in two distinct programs: Community-based Mentoring and Site-based Mentoring. Over the past three years, the program has grown by 153 percent and has been recognized nationally for its accomplishments by Big Brothers Big Sisters.
making the connection
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Desert offers two different mentorship programs:
- Community-based Mentoring: For as little as an hour a week, Bigs and Littles meet in their community to share fun activities : stories : and a little bit of themselves.

- Site-based Mentoring: Bigs and Littles meet once a week at Boys & Girls Clubs (Coachella, Indio, La Quinta, Desert Hot Springs) and at the Salvation Army in Cathedral City "TEAM Program" to have fun, share new experiences and assist with school work. It’s all about being there a friend.
