Be A Big
Depending on the program you are in, you may meet your Little in the community or at one of our site-based program locations in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, La Quinta, Indio or Mecca. Littles come from all kinds of backgrounds. Some are really little - as young as six - and some are teenagers. Some may live in your neighborhood and some a few miles away. What do they all have in common? They need someone besides a parent or guardian to spend time with - just like you!

​How It Works
To become a Big, you'll need to:
• Complete an online orientation and required training, including:

• Mandated Reporter Training
• Pre-Match Training for Bigs

• Submit an application
• Provide three references
• Participate in an in-person interview
• Complete a fingerprint-based background check (adult volunteers only)

Step 1 - Inquire

Step 2 - Apply
Our team makes your enrollment streamlined and simple. After you inquire about becoming a Big, our staff will contact you and send training instructions, an application and a background-check form. After you complete the application and background-check form, we will schedule your interview.

​Step 3 - Get Matched With A Little
​Attend an introduction hosted by staff where you will meet the family and child you will spend time being their mentor.

​Step 4 - Stay Connected
​Regular check-ins support volunteers and families and ensure child safety.
